Who We Are

Before I Die of Love is a teen dating violence awareness movement founded in 2015 by KaylaVera McBride Albritton when she was just 14 years old. Moved by the realities too many teens face in silence, she launched this initiative to break cycles of abuse through education, empowerment, and truth-telling. What began as a personal calling has grown into a national effort to reach youth where they are—with compassion, clarity, and community.

We are committed to helping teens and young adults recognize the signs of unhealthy love, understand their inherent worth, and find the courage to walk away from relationships that threaten their safety or identity. Our work centers on storytelling, creative outreach, digital engagement, and prevention education. We offer tools and resources that uplift survivors and equip allies to stand boldly against all forms of dating violence.

One of our cornerstone platforms is PledgeToBeSafe.com—a space where individuals can learn, reflect, and take a stand by pledging to choose safety, mutual respect, and healing over harm. It’s more than a promise; it’s a movement of accountability and hope.

Rooted in love, our mission aligns with the values of 1 Corinthians 13, believing that real love is patient, kind, and seeks to build others up, not tear them down. We are grounded in the conviction that every young person deserves freedom, dignity, and peace, and our work reflects the truth that love should never cause harm.

At Before I Die of Love, our mission doesn’t stop at awareness—we envision a world where every teen and young adult not only survives abuse but thrives beyond it.

Our long-term goals include:

• Establishing safe housing and transitional living programs for youth and young adults escaping dating violence or unstable home environments. These spaces will offer security, counseling, career development, and holistic support to help survivors rebuild their lives.
   
• Expanding our digital platforms like PledgeToBeSafe.com to reach millions with prevention education, survivor stories, and a national pledge movement.
   
• Developing a national ambassador program to train youth leaders and peer advocates in schools and communities across the country.
   
• Partnering with schools, healthcare systems, churches, and local governments to integrate teen dating violence prevention into health education and youth programs.
   
• Publishing and distributing educational content and curriculum that reflects real-life experiences of teens affected by violence, rooted in empathy, empowerment, and evidence-based prevention strategies.
